How is pearl quality assessed

We describe how pearl quality is assessed quite comprehensively and concisely in the previous FAQ page (How is YurPearls different?)

But don't take our word for it! Check out this short video (not made by us!) for an explanation of how pearl quality is assessed.

Our pearls have high lustre, thick nacre, and absolutely no "damaging blemishes" of the sort defined in the video. Our pearls are also amongst the largest (usually over 8mm in diameter) compared to other cultured freshwater pearl retailers.

We have taken our pearl jewlry to jewelers in western countries for assessment. They have confirmed that, given the quality of pearls that we sell, the prices we charge are more than fair, and some jewelers have even said they would pay more than what we are charging.

If you spot a similar-looking pearl product at a lower price, simply contact us and send us a web-link of that product if possible. If their product actually is of similar quality to ours, then we may offer a more competitive price. Note that online retailers tend to upload photos of pearls that are heavily computer-modified, and thus will make the pearls seem better than they actually are. YurPearls displays pictures of our pearls as they actually are - so what you see will be what you get!
